A Wet Scrubber is an air pollution control device that removes pollutants (dust, gases, and chemicals) from industrial exhaust gases by using a liquid (usually water or a chemical solution). Flue Gas Desulfurization (FGD) is a specific type of wet scrubber designed to remove sulfur dioxide (SO₂) from flue gases, mainly used in coal-fired power plants, cement factories, and refineries to reduce emissions.
Gas Contact with Liquid – Polluted gas enters the scrubber and is sprayed with water or a chemical solution. Pollutant Absorption – The liquid captures dust and gaseous pollutants, removing them from the air. Separation – The cleaned gas exits, while the liquid with pollutants is collected and treated.
